How the free AI resume builder works
- Start your way. Import an old Word or PDF resume, let AI Assist write the first draft, or pick a template first.
- Pick from 38 resume designs in any colour, including Gen Z styles, for internship, fresher, software, doctor, engineering, finance, sales, design, teaching and government jobs, previewed with your own details.
- Fill step by step. AI Assist writes your summary, suggests bullet points and fixes weak phrasing. The preview updates as you type.
- Check your ATS score and download. Fix what the ATS checker flags, match your resume to a job description, then download a clean PDF with no watermark.
Resumes for every stage
Use it as an internship resume builder when you have projects but no experience, a fresher resume maker for campus placements, or an AI resume builder for experienced roles. Doctors, nurses, engineers, teachers and government-job applicants get section names and templates made for them. Need your marks as a percentage? Try the CGPA to Percentage Converter.
Resume builder FAQ
Is the Lazy Resume Builder really free?
Yes. You can build, preview, check your ATS score and download your resume as a PDF, Word (.docx) or text file for free, with no sign-up and no watermark on the download.
Is this an AI resume builder?
Yes. AI Assist writes professional summaries, suggests bullet points for your role and rewrites weak lines. It runs instantly in your browser, and you can switch on an open-source model (Llama 3.2 or Qwen 2.5) that runs on your device. It never invents employers or numbers; it leaves [X] placeholders for you to fill.
Can I make an internship or fresher resume with no experience?
Yes. Pick Student / Intern or Fresher. Templates put education, projects and skills first, and Assist writes a summary based on your degree, skills and projects.
Are the templates ATS-friendly?
Templates with the green ATS tag use one column and standard headings that applicant tracking systems read reliably. The built-in ATS checker scores your resume and tells you what to fix.
Can I import my old resume?
Yes. Upload a Word (.docx), PDF or text resume from your device, Lazy Shelf or phone. It is read in your browser and every field is filled automatically. Sections with other names, like Volunteering, Publications or Personal Details, are kept as extra sections, so nothing is lost.
Can I download my resume in Word format?
Yes. Download a PDF that looks exactly like the preview, a Word (.docx) file you can edit in Word or Google Docs, or a plain text file for job portals. The PDF works on iPhone and Android too.
Do you have Gen Z resume templates?
Yes. The Gen Z category has pastel, sticker, bento, neo-brutalist, notebook and neon designs, and every design comes in any colour.
Is my data private?
Your resume is saved only in this browser. Imported files are read on your device and not uploaded to our servers.
